World's First Jet Airplane and First US Jet

Video of a tour, showing the world's first jet made by Messerschmitt of Germany, Messerschmitt Me 262. It also shows the first US Jet.

Wilhelm Messerschmitt was a German aircraft designer and manufacturer. His firm produce the first jet-powered fighter, the Messerschmitt Me 262 (Schwalbe of Swallow). Plans were drawn up in April 1939. Its maiden flight was in April 1941 with piston engines and July 1942 with jet engines. It was the world's first operational turbo jet fighter. It served a multi-role as a figher/bomber/reconnaissance/interceptor plane for the Luftwaffe.

The video also shows the first US jet, the Bell, P-59.
